Airbnb’s market share of U.S. lodging demand increasing at a decelerating rate
While Airbnb demand has grown rapidly during the past few years, analysts expect its demand growth will decelerate in the near term. Recent data provides strong evidence that this is already happening. Specifically, the pace of growth in room nights sold has declined over the course of the past year, even though demand is still growing significantly. We expect the pace of demand growth will continue to decelerate during the next few years.

Personalised pricing: Right data instead of big data
In order to get into direct contact with their guests early in the booking process, hoteliers have to overcome the practice of commoditisation. The best way to take the focus off the price discussion is automatic pricing. According to a study by Accenture, 75 percent of consumers today place increasing value on personalised experiences and offers.

Infographic: HospitalityUnited.Club releases Middle East Online Travel Trends at ATM

HospitalityUnited.Club, a consortium of travel technology companies, in partnership with RateTiger and LiveOS has published an infographic ebook titled ‘Middle East Travel Trends’ – highlighting key travel metrics and indicators in the region. Despite the ongoing turmoil, Middle East is on the course of recovery led by GCC countries, with Dubai retaining its lead position as the travel and business hub.

While three countries, namely Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Egypt still occupy the largest share of the travel pie, with 7 out of 10 travelers visiting them, the demography of the travelers are vastly different.
The ebook shows that even though online booking is growing fast, Middle Eastern travelers still largely refer booking through travel and tour operators. Interestingly, even for offline bookers, over 40% of them do their research and planning online. The online booking space is largely dominated by OTAs with over 75% market share. The region, with high mobile penetration is also adapting to mobile booking quicker than matured online markets like Europe and America.
The average Middle East traveler has a clear preference for luxury with Gulf countries’ nationals spending 4 times more than the global average. The demand for luxury also propelled hotel supply in the region. 26% of total hotel pipeline are for the luxury segment. While local luxury brands are making a mark, over 95% of luxury properties are operated by International Hotel Groups.

M Hotel Downtown by Millennium Dubai endorses RateTiger for online distribution
M Hotel Downtown by Millenium has improved their online sales through eRevMax’s seamless connectivity with leading OTAs. The 4-star property has been using RTConnect to update rate and inventory across online sales channels and receive reservations into their property management system (PMS).
Top concerns hotels need to know about the GDPR and how to prepare your action plan
The GDPR is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union and regulates how companies manage, use, and share personal data. The GDPR will take effect on May 25, 2018. The GDPR applies to natural persons, whatever their nationality or place of residence, whose personal data is processed and whose behavior is monitored while within the EU. This change in legislation means that nearly every online service is affected, and the regulation has already resulted in significant changes for US users as companies begin to adapt.
Booking.com buying tours/attractions tech company
The FareHarbor acquisition will help provide content to expand Booking.com‘s upselling of consumers on tours after the consumers have already bought another product from the online travel giant.

For hoteliers: 6 steps to success in text messaging and chat from an expert
As text messaging and chat become the communication channels of choice for consumers, more hotels are adapting to the trend by inviting travelers to connect with them by SMS, chat widget, or messaging app. Consumers love messaging because it’s fast, easy, and convenient.
Airbnb moves into MICE accommodation space
Airbnb has released its Airbnb for Events tool, offering event organisers and conference planners the ability to create an interactive map of Airbnb listings near their venues.
The data says: Global demand growth for Airbnb, TripAdvisor and Agoda
One of the main criteria for mastering global expansion is understanding the market you are about to enter and the elements that set that market apart. But just as important is being keenly aware of what is similar and which elements of an existing strategy can be applied ‘as is.’ Few examples show this process more clearly than Airbnb’s strategy in France where the company is enjoying a 25% traffic share increase among the top 20 sites in the sector.

Middle East is the fastest-growing region for travel with UAE being the dominant market. With over 15 million overnight visitors, Dubai has seen double digit growth in mid-market travel segment. The city, being the business and shopping hub in the region with the highest smartphone penetration, has seen major shift in the entire travel value chain due to digitization – from travel research to booking to guest engagement.

Prior to RateTiger, M Hotel tried various channel managers to update rates and allotments on different OTAs but there was still a lot of manual task involved. Being a popular choice of guests, not having the ability to immediately update its rooms and rates was a potential handicap for its revenue stream and constant hindrance on staff. The extreme competition in Dubai hospitality sector fuelled by additional supply of rooms in the city has made managing online sales channels even more complex.

“The biggest challenge that we faced with our earlier distribution solutions was the time delay in sending ARI update to all channels. Proper distribution of rates and availability is very vital in eliminating parity issues which is an ongoing challenge with most of the hotels and one of the top most measurement factor which affects your search ranking in OTAs. RateTiger has really changed that considerably given the amount of data which is pushed to the channel manager,” said Unni Krishnan, Revenue Manager, M Hotel Downtown by Millenium.

RTConnect’s pool inventory model allows Unni and his team to continuously distribute its live rates and inventory to multiple booking channels and deliver updates back into its property management system (PMS) in real-time, without worrying about overbooking. eRevMax’s stable 2-way XML connection with all leading online sales channels have allowed them to easily connect with better performing OTAs.

“RateTiger seems to be following the most important rule of the technology world ‘Keeping it simple but powerful’!” summarized Unni Krishnan.

Team eRevMax, represented by Diako Sali and Ram Mohan Dubey, will be attending ATM Dubai from 22 – 25 April 2018. To set a meeting, contact marketing@erevmax.com

A brief history of property management systems
A lot of hotel websites, for example, show weather information, but it is unlikely that web agencies develop their own weather widgets from scratch. More likely, they connect to existing monitor apps, so that web users can check the temperature of their chosen destination without even realizing that the information is actually provided by an external source. This communication is made possible by the use of an API.

eRevMax has completed integration with Brazilian hospitality software provider Check-in. Mutual hotel customers can now get the benefit of automatic distribution of availability and rate to third party online booking sites whenever they are updated and get reservations delivered from OTAs to the Check-in property management system.
The Alpha, developed by Check-in, is one the largest property management systems in Latin America and is used by over 1800 hotels. eRevMax’s distribution solutions are used by over 9000 hotels to update rate and inventory across multiple booking channels and deliver reservations into PMS.
