eRevMax delivers 15% year-on-year growth for Inspira Santa Marta Hotel

Inspira Santa Maria Hotel, a luxury 4 star resort in the centre of Lisbon, Portugal, has recently completed a full integration with eRevMax’s RateTiger Suite. Inspira had previously been managing their multiple distribution channels manually but, as one of the most sought after hotels in Lisbon due to it being the city’s only combined hotel & spa, manual operations were proving to be too inefficient to cope with the high demand. Following the integration with RateTiger Channel Manager and RateTiger Shopper, Inspira has reported that they have experienced a 15 percent year-on-year growth, which General Manager Nicolas Roucos credits to the solutions of eRevMax.

TouristOnline integrates with eRevMax for seamless connectivity

TouristOnline, a major online booking provider in Denmark, has recently completed two-way interface integration with eRevMax. The reason for the integration was twofold. Firstly, eRevMax’s leading software has been implemented to assist TouristOnline in expanding their services, not just throughout Denmark and Scandinavia but also across Europe. TouristOnline will also get benefit from eRevMax’s Reservation Delivery service, which facilitates automatic transfer of reservations data booked through their various hotel booking portals like TouristOnline.dk, Hotel.dk, visitdenmark.com directly to the hotel management systems (CRS/PMS).

Secondly, the software has been introduced as a way of reducing the need for manual update from the user end. Following the 2-way XML interface certification with eRevMax, TouristOnline joins the eRevMax Channel Ecosystem, whereby all hotel booking sites within the group gain access to broader inventory of hotel product, will see improved booking conversion on existing accounts and expects to realize increased revenues as part of its growth plans across Europe.

eRevMax predicts hotel online distribution trends 2014

As technology advances and the world of social media expands, more and more travelers are turning towards smart phones and tablets to book hotel rooms. eRevMax, the leader in hotel online distribution and channel management solution has released an Infographic “Online Hotel Distribution” to provide hoteliers with upcoming trends backed by relevant data.

Travelers who book hotel rooms online are increasingly equipped with smart phones and tablets. The infographic shows 7% of all bookings were generated from mobile and tablet devices in 2013, and this trend will grow by another 20% this year. In 2014, hotel bookings through mobile will contribute over $26 billion.

The eRevMax study sheds light on how metasearch sites realized a 13% increase in 2013. Google Hotel Finder, TripConnect and Trivago are becoming a driving force in hotel online distribution as 60% of travellers shop by comparing rates on these sites. To shift market share from the OTAs to direct bookings, hoteliers should utilize metasearch sites as a part of their overall distrbution strategy as it offers better search experience and allows the traveller to find the lowest prices available online.

Bookings from OTAs surged ahead with a 12% rise in Q3 2013 and now stands at 13% of overall bookings in North America. It also shows that 33% of all bookings take place at the brand’s website, an increase of 5% in Q3 2013. eRevMax suggests hoteliers work with OTAs to increase revenues and implement reputation management solutions for quick responses to their guests.

Another important tip by the hotel solutions provider is to leverage the billboard effect, defined as the increase in offline bookings of a property when it is listed with an Online Travel Agency (OTA). An experiment conducted by Cornell University observed that one of the participant hotels experienced an impressive 14% increase in direct bookings when it contracted with an OTA. Besides, Average Daily Rate (ADR) increased by 1.5% during OTA listing of the same property.

In this world of social media, SEO and analytics, failure to adopt digital platforms in their marketing strategy is suicidal for hotels. The data shows that 81% of tech-savvy travellers find user reviews important, while 49% travellers book hotel only after reading reviews. Nearly 21% used Facebook to search for hotel information at least once while 14% of travellers use the Facebook platform to book a hotel room. Hence, it is imperative that hotels take social-commerce seriously.

eRevMax Tigers in search of Royal Bengal Tigers

We, the eRevMax Connect team in Kolkata decided to bring 2013 to a dramatic end – we decided to have a rendezvous with the Royal Bengal Tigers. So, off we went to Sunderbans – considered the home to these tigers. The Sunderbans are a part of the world’s largest delta formed by the mighty rivers Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna. Situated on the lower end of the Gangetic West Bengal, it is also the world’s largest estuarine forest. The Sunderbans is criss-crossed by hundreds of creeks and tributaries.

We started early on a cold December morning from Kolkata, and after a 4 hour bus journey, we got on the boat that would take us to the forests. As the boat sailed through the river, we were mesmerized by the greenery around the mangroves forest. In just 3 hrs we were out from the ugly concrete jungle and entered the beautiful greenery of a natural jungle.

We were excited when we found a giant crocodile resting on the bank of rivers, deers grazing grass and birds chirping all around. While moving slowly on the river, we were all praying and hoping that we would get lucky and get a chance to see the tigers in all their glory – but alas – it was not to be!

We had to content ourselves with the crocs and deers – which in itself was a hell of an experience. The whole journey was an eye-opener as we realized that there is so much life and greenery in these jungles. It was an amazing experience – by the evening as the sun turned red,our boat reached the river bank and we left Sunderbans with the promise to return again soon to this green Delta.
