A playground where children’s creativity can run wild – Part 2

It’s time to rejoice as the children of Hatgacha Primary School in Kolkata, India now have their own playground. Further to our last update, the playground is ready and helping bring smile to the faces of young kids.

On one side it has helped reduce absenteeism while on the other, it helps children develop learning and creative skills. By playing together, they learn to get along, agree on rules and resolve conflict – all of which are necessary when building social skills.

If you want to encourage the link between playground equipment and child development, you need playgrounds that are designed to be beneficial for children. We are glad to be able to contribute in a very small way, to help some children get benefited from our CSR initiatives.

Here are some joyful glimpses –

eRevMax celebrates ‘Joy in Giving’ with Hope Kolkata Foundation

eRevMax, the leading hospitality technology solutions provider, has initiated the ‘Joy of Giving’ – an annual weeklong event celebrating generosity, unity and happiness. Employees of the company’s Kolkata and Bangalore office came together to makes wishes come true for over 150 children.
This year’s effort revolves around a wish-fulfilling tree that gave donors the opportunity to fulfil wishes of children from two local primary schools and Kasba Girls’ Protection Home run by Hope Kolkata Foundation. The donation drive, organized by the company’s CSR team saw employees contributing school stationeries and toys as desired by the children.
Commenting on the initiative, Udai Singh Solanki, Managing Director & CTO, eRevMax, said, “We have received overwhelming response from our employees, who have been more than generous with their contribution. It’s a privilege to notice the joy on the faces of little ones when they received their puja surprises.”
eRevMax has been supporting two Government run primary schools in Rajarhat near Kolkata for the last 10 years. By encouraging and enabling employee volunteering, the company brings together people and good causes to create a wave of change.

Sailing to the Utopia – with young minds

The last few months have been exciting times for the eRevMax CSR team. Lot of activities and engagement have motivated the kids and us and brought out new facets in our persona.
eRevMax tied up with Hypokrites, a renowned Kolkata based theatrical group, to groom the children to present a play at ‘Porjas’ – an annual play festival. January saw exhaustive preparations with members from eRevMax and Hypokrites involved with moulding the children and making them stage-ready.

Beginning of February saw the participant children delivering a beautiful and fun play titled “Ghoom Ghoom Class Room”  showcasing children sleeping in a classroom dreaming about their aspirations and then waking up to harsh realities of life. I played the role of a school teacher who motivates the children to pursue their dreams with fervor – this fills them with determination to achieve their goals in life. The play ends on a happy note showing their dedication and pursuit of excellence in their chosen fields.

The idea of the whole exercise was to groom the children, expose them to performing arts while at the same time inspiring them to dream and continue to believe ‘I Can’.

Further we also conducted a drawing competition for the children this month and were pleasantly surprised by their creativity. Here are the winning three drawings showcasing daily life in a village setting –

These activities have definitely added more depth to my thought process and a new dimension to my life. It’s an enriching experience working with these children, sharing their dreams and encouraging them to attain those dreams.
I invite all of you to join our CSR initiative and bring a difference – in our own way!
