Tourism is on track for full recovery as new data shows a strong start to 2023 

International tourism is well on its way to returning to pre-pandemic levels, with twice as many people travelling during the first quarter of 2023 than in the same period of 2022. International tourism receipts reached the USD1 trillion mark in 2022, growing 50% in real terms compared to 2021, driven by the important rebound in international travel. 


Tourism in Italy sets to smash record this year 

Tourism in Italy this year is set to smash record levels set before the coronavirus pandemic, new data showed, putting the sector’s recovery ahead of pace in Europe as a whole. The prediction that 2023 will overtake 2019 must push us to do more and more, intervening to favour policies of seasonal adjustment and overcome the phenomenon of over-tourism, said Tourism Minister Daniela Santanche after Cruciani’s speech.
