Hotels look beyond pride to court LGBTQ+ travelers all year 

Hotel courtship of the LGBTQ community today is significantly more transparent: Marriott and Hilton are just as present at Pride parades as they are in support of legal issues. Both companies signed an amicus brief in 2015 calling the U.S. Supreme Court to strike down bans on same-sex marriage. The Standard, High Line, in New York City kicked off Pride last weekend with a performance from longtime ally Madonna.

Red Sea Global (RSG) has promised the giga project will be entirely disability friendly. Red Sea will cap its annual visitor figure at 1.5 million a year. Taking World Health Organisation’s figure that one in six people is disabled, the Red Sea could welcome around 250,000 disabled people annually.     The emirate welcomed close to five million visitors in the first quarter of 2023 

    Dubai welcomed 4.67 million international overnight visitors in the first quarter of 2023, compared to 3.97 million tourists during the same period in 2022. Charleston, South Carolina, is the most expensive US destination 

The historic port city of Charleston in South Carolina is the most expensive destination in America for accommodation this spring; a new survey has shown. Jamaica registers 94% rise in tourist arrivals in Q1 2023 

Tourists coming to Jamaica’s sun-drenched beaches increased by over 100% in the first three months of the year, resulting in huge lines and hours-long delays for arriving passengers at the island’s major airport. Later that day, Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett told Parliament that there were 1.18 million arrivals from January to March, which is 94% higher than the same time in 2022 and a record high for Jamaica’s tourist hot season.

New global partnership with Chinese trip.com and Saudi Tourism 

An MOU was signed by Trip.com Group’s Chief Executive Officer Jane Sun and Mr. Fahd Hamidaddin, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Tourism Authority, in Beijing, China. As part of the collaboration between Saudi Arabia and the Chinese tour company, both parties will launch joint marketing campaigns in several markets to drive awareness and attract tourists to the Kingdom through global platforms, such as Trip.com, Ctrip, and Travix.

Jumeirah signs deal to open Zuma restaurant 

Jumeirah Group have announced the opening of Zuma Capri. The restaurant will be at Capri Palace Jumeirah on the Blue Island in Italy. The new property is set to open in the European summer. Zuma Capri will be located at the Capri Palace Jumeirah rooftop. This will be Zuma’s third outlet in Italy, following Rome (opened in 2016) and Porto Cervo’s which launched in 2022.

Investment management specialists Colliers have published a report on the future of tourism in Ras Al Khaimah. In’22, Online travel giants spent more than $14 billion on marketing 

As the world reopened to travel in 2022, online travel giants Expedia Group, Booking Holdings, Airbnb and Trip.com Group doled out a record amount of money to capture consumers’ attention. Across the four brands, spending on marketing (reported by Airbnb and Expedia Group as both sales and marketing) was just over $14 billion for the year – exceeding the amount the four companies spent in 2019 by about $500 million.

Completed Kimpton Hotel Fontenot with new restaurant open now  

Kimpton Hotel Fontenot, located in the heart of New Orleans’ Central Business District, is now complete with its expansion into the historic building next door, open to the public and guests. The new additions include over 12,000 square feet of flexible meeting and events space, 33 new guestrooms and suites, and the city’s newest French brasserie – King.

The Ambassador Hotel Mumbai anticipates a 20 to 25% increase in ARRs 

The Ambassador Hotel Mumbai, a heritage hospitality landmark in the country’s commercial capital, will be undertaking its last and final phase of renovations starting in April to be fully ready in a new avatar before the next tourist season. The hotel will close the last three floors, making up 50 rooms and a now defunct revolving restaurant for refurbishment.
